CyberKnife for Metastatic Brain Tumors

by | May 3, 2026 | Metastatic Brain Tumor Treatment With CyberKnife

New research in Radiation Oncology reports long‑term outcomes after CyberKnife® fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) for brain metastases.

In this single‑centre retrospective cohort (131 patients, 197 lesions),

CyberKnife FSRT achieved durable local control, with tumour volume and prior surgery identified as key factors associated with both local outcomes and radionecrosis risk.

Rates of symptomatic radionecrosis were considered acceptable in the context of long‑term follow‑up, supporting the role of volume‑adapted, multi‑fraction stereotactic approaches for selected patients.

These findings add real‑world evidence to ongoing discussions around dose–fractionation strategies in intracranial stereotactic radiotherapy.
