WHEN CANCER PATIENTS ARE CHEMOTHERAPY RESISTANT – CYBERKNIFE THERAPY IS A GOOD OPTION!

Did you know that people can be resistant to chemotherapy? Chemotherapy drugs are widely used to stop a tumor from growing and to stop cancer from recurring and spreading to other parts of the body. When a person becomes chemo resistant-or has failed chemotherapy treatments -the cancers that were initially responding to treatment suddenly begin to grow and cancer cells are resisting the effects of the chemotherapy. Many different chemotherapy drugs are available, and if one doesn’t work your oncologist will most likely want to try other drugs. However, if a cancer becomes resistant to one drug or group of drugs, it is probable that the cancer may be resistant to other chemo drugs as well. If your chemotherapy has stopped working for you the good news is- other treatment options are available.

CyberKnife Radiation Therapy, approved by the FDA has long been used to treat all kinds of cancer. It treats lung, liver, prostate, brain, pancreas, and spinal cord. It also treats metastatic cancers which are cancers that have spread to other areas of the body.

CyberKnife radiosurgery is an advanced image-guided robotics system that targets and destroys tumors and lesions with pinpoint accuracy. Using high-energy radiation, CyberKnife cancer treatment is more precise and effective than traditional radiation. There are little or no side effects and patients can enjoy a quality of life while undergoing treatment.  CyberKnife treatments can be completed in 3-5 days as opposed to 42 days with traditional radiation.

Many of our patients at CyberKnife Miami had been told that they had inoperable tumors, but were successfully treated with the CyberKnife. Other patients that have come to us, were told there was nothing more that could be done for them and they were successfully treated with CyberKnife as well.

If you have been told that you are chemotherapy resistant you may be a candidate for CyberKnife radiosurgery and we encourage you to contact our office today to set up a consultation with one of our expert radiation oncologists to discuss your case and determine whether you are a candidate for treatment.
